| Cross-country skiing is a winter activity where participants ski over a variety of terrain. It can be done recreationally or competitively depending on the individual. It is an excellant aerobic and calorie buring activity and improves balance and coordination.
The students will learn the basic skills of cross-country skiing necessary to participate at a recreational level. They will learn of potential safety hazards and how to appropiatley dress for outdoor winter conditions. Once students have developed a basic level of competency, trails on school grounds will be open to them so they can improve their skills and cardiovascular fitness. Proper Dress: All students must wear a hat(or ear bands) and mittens/gloves. Students must wear long pants , wamr up pants, or ski pants and sweatshirt or sweater. A jacket or windbreaker should also be worn. Students who are not dressed for the daily outdoor conditions will not go outside.
